Do you know what I love? Rice Krispie Treats. All the time, year round – I don’t need an excuse to devour an entire box or pan of these treats.
And quite honestly, most of the time Rice Krispie treats (even the store bought ones) are going to be gluten-free. That’s because the cereal used (most of the time) is gluten-free. I mean, obviously always check your ingredients but probably 9 times out of 10 they’re going to be compliant.
The thing they’re often not, however, is dairy-free. That’s because most of the time they’re made with butter, so if you’re someone who also can’t have dairy, that’s where the trouble lies with a traditional rice krispie treat.
Lucky for you, there are enough dairy-free alternatives these days to make sure you can still have your favorite treat.

Ingredients
- 5 cups of gf rice crispy cereal
- 3/4 cup organic natural honey
- 3/4 cup all natural nut butter
- A pinch of sea salt
- A dash of vanilla extract
- Optional: because the honey and nut butter combined is so sweet you don’t really need the dash of vanilla extract, so you can decide if you’d like to keep that or hold off
- Optional ingredients: dried fruit we love goji berries because they’re a super food that’s super healthy, or cacao nibs for your chocolate fix!
Instructions
- Melt the honey and almond or peanut butter together until well combined (you can do this on the stovetop or in the microwave, just be sure not to overheat)
- Combine with the rice krispies until mixed thoroughly
- Add in your optional ingredients
- Spread evenly into an 8×11 cooking pan
- Chill in the fridge for about 45-60 minutes
