What You Need To Make This Savory Tennessee Onion Pizza Recipe?
Olive Oil: A good olive oil brings a rich, fruity base. That helps crisp up the dough beautifully. In the oven. It also adds a subtle depth of flavor. So don’t skimp! I always reach. For my favorite extra virgin olive oil for this.
Fresh Pizza Dough: Using fresh dough. Is a game-changer here. Room-temperature dough is much easier to stretch. And it gives that perfect balance. Between a crispy outer layer. And a soft, chewy center. If you’re short on time. Store-bought dough works. But homemade is always a labor of love.
Vidalia Onions: These sweet, mild onions. Are the star of this pizza. Vidalias caramelizes beautifully in the oven. Giving you that irresistible blend of sweetness. And savory flavor. Their natural sugars complement the richness of the cheeses perfectly. Adding just the right amount of sweetness. To every bite.
Sharp White Cheddar Cheese: This cheese brings a bold, tangy flavor. To the pizza. It cuts through the sweetness of the onions. And balances everything out. I love how it melts. And adds a gooey, cheesy goodness. To every bite.
Smoked Gouda Cheese: Smoked Gouda adds a whole new dimension. To this pizza. Its smokiness pairs so well. With the sharp cheddar and onions. Creating layers of flavor. In every slice. Plus, it melts like a dream. Making the pizza rich and indulgent.
Butter & Garlic Mix: The combination of melted butter, minced garlic, and herbs. Is what makes this pizza so special. It soaks into the dough. Infusing every bite. With a buttery, garlicky flavor. That’s impossible to resist. The herbs like thyme, parsley, and oregano. Add that Italian-inspired freshness. Elevating the whole pizza.
Dry Ground Mustard & Cayenne Pepper: These spices are the secret weapons. In this pizza. The mustard adds a tangy zing. While the cayenne gives just a hint of heat. To keep things interesting. They may seem like small additions. But they bring a lot of character. To the dish.
