Frequently Asked Questions
Do we need to soak the beans in water?
I like soaking the beans in water for 12 – 24 hours. This makes the beans easier and quicker to cook.
Rinse the beans well before cooking. Skim off the foam that forms on top as the beans cook.
Can I substitute ham hock?
You can simply add in some pieces of cooked ham (around 2 cups worth) if you do not have ham or pork hock to flavor the beans.
