- 1-½ lbs ham hock
- 2 lbs great northern beans dry
- 6 c. water
- 1 large celery stalk sliced or chopped
- 1 large carrot sliced or chopped
- ½ tsp cayenne pepper
- salt to taste
- ½ tsp black pepper
Prevent your screen from going dark
In a large slow cooker, add all the ingredients.
Set to cook the beans on high for 4 - 5 hours. You can also cook on high for 7 - 8 hours.
Take the ham hock from the slow cooker and allow it to cool a little. Take the ham bits off and return them to the slow cooker.
Stir everything and season with salt if needed.
Serve the beans immediately with biscuits or cornbread. Enjoy!
