The kids are obsessed with these baked chicken tenders wrapped in bacon! Even my husband cannot get enough of this dish! My husband invited his friends to watch the Super Bowl next weekend. They’ll bring food, but I’ll make some appetizers. And I cannot think of the best appetizer to serve. These little bad boys will surely be gone in seconds!

These baked chicken tenders wrapped in bacon are one of the best appetizers you’ll ever make!

What you need:

Chicken Tenders Wrapped in Bacon - Ingredients

  • 2 lbs chicken tenders about 16 tenders
  • 2 tsp garlic powder
  • 2 tsp paprika
  • 1 tsp oregano
  • 1 tsp onion powder
  • 1 tsp thyme
  • 16 slices no sugar bacon
  • 2 tsp kosher salt
  • 2 tsp ground cayenne pepper reduce for less spice

To make this recipe gluten-free (you should use this ingredient instead):

Gluten-free bacon. Generally, bacon is gluten-free, but some use flavoring that comes from barley malt powder which is derived from gluten. To make sure always check the label and list of ingredients before buying.

Each herb and spice is placed into a huge zipper bag. The chicken is then added to the bag and shaken to provide a uniform coating.

The next step is to wrap a slice of bacon around each tender after they have been seasoned. I’m thinking you could store them in the fridge till tomorrow and bake them then.

I fried the bacon-wrapped chicken tenders on cooling racks so the fat would drain and the bacon would get crisp. In my opinion, this is a fool-proof way of cooking bacon.

I love the hint of spice, but you are welcome to tone down the cayenne pepper to suit your taste.

Best Baked Chicken Tenders Wrapped in Bacon

Chicken wrapped in bacon is a simple and delicious meal or snack that can be prepared in the oven. The bacon helps preserve moisture and adds a savory taste.

Ingredients

  • 2 lbs chicken tenders about 16 tenders
  • 2 tsp garlic powder
  • 2 tsp paprika
  • 1 tsp oregano
  • 1 tsp onion powder
  • 1 tsp thyme
  • 16 slices no sugar bacon
  • 2 tsp kosher salt
  • 2 tsp ground cayenne pepper reduce for less spice

Instructions
 

  1. Prepare the oven. Preheat it to 425 degrees F. Using aluminum foil, line two rimmed baking pans and place a metal rack on top.
  2. Place the herbs and spices in a large plastic zipper bag. Seal the bag and shake.
  3. In the zipper bag, add the chicken tenders. Shake well to coat the chicken completely in the spice blend.
  4. Wrap each chicken tender in bacon, tucking the ends. On the rack in the prepared pan, lay the chicken tenders that are wrapped in bacon.
  5. Place in the preheated oven and bake for about 35 minutes or until the bacon is crispy. If needed, place the pan under the broiler for about 1 to 2 minutes until the bacon is crispy.

Notes

For each serving, there are about 2 tenders
If using an air fryer, the cooking time is about 25 to 30 minutes at 400 degrees F.
How To Make it Gluten free
Look for bacon that is gluten-free. Always check the ingredients and label before buying, especially if you are super sensitive to gluten.

    1. Yes, you can make this dish with chicken thighs cut into strips. The baking time may need to be adjusted slightly, depending on the thickness of your chicken strips.
