To Make Whiskey Pineapple Chicken

I like simple recipes that I can whip up in minutes using just a couple of readily available ingredients. And this Whiskey Pineapple Chicken is one of my favorites!

What you need:

Whiskey Pineapple Chicken

  • Chicken breasts
  • BBQ sauce
  • Worcestershire sauce
  • Garlic cloves
  • Pepper
  • Bourbon or whiskey
  • Pineapple juice

To make this recipe gluten-free (you should use these ingredients instead):

  • Gluten-free BBQ sauce – always check the label before buying as many sauces contain Worcestershire sauce, which contains gluten, also certain flavors, and sweeteners.
  • Check the label to ensure that the Worcestershire sauce you are purchasing does not contain gluten. You can use red vinegar or balsamic vinegar combined with tamarind paste as an alternative.

Before taking the chicken off the grill, we coated it with some additional BBQ sauce. For a little more kick, add a shot of whiskey to the BBQ sauce if desired! And the extra BBQ sauce is completely optional, but we enjoyed it! It also gives some color to the chicken.

Frequently Asked Questions

How to serve Whiskey pineapple chicken

This chicken is ideal for summer cookouts and fall tailgating. For a larger audience, just double or quadruple the recipe. This chicken goes well with green beans, buns, or a salad!

Is it possible to over-marinate chicken in pineapple juice?

The pineapple chicken marinade may be prepared ahead of time by whisking all of the ingredients together, but the chicken shouldn’t be left to marinate in the sauce for more than a few days, as the acidic pineapple juice can cause the flesh to become rubbery if left too long.
