Ingredients

Scale

1 (12-ounce) can refrigerated Pillsbury Grands Jr biscuits (10 count)

1 (21-ounce) can apple pie filling

1 teaspoon cinnamon

1 cup butterscotch chips

½ cup powdered sugar

1 tablespoon milk

Instructions

Preheat your oven to 350ºF (175ºC) and lightly grease a baking pan measuring 9×13 inches using cooking spray.

For the filling take a bowl. Combine the apple pie filling with cinnamon and butterscotch chips. Make sure to chop the apple slices in the filling into pieces, for even distribution.

Next, cut each biscuit into four pieces. Stir them into the apple mixture until they are well coated.

Transfer the biscuit and apple mixture into the greased baking pan spreading it evenly. Bake in the oven for 25 to 30 minutes until you notice a brown top and bubbling casserole.

While waiting for the casserole to bake prepare a glaze by mixing sugar, with milk.

Once your casserole is baked to perfection drizzle the glaze over its top. Serve it warm and enjoy!

Notes

To make this delightful Apple Bubble Up Casserole gluten-free without sacrificing its comforting taste and texture, you can easily swap a few ingredients. Replace the regular Pillsbury Grands Jr biscuits with a gluten-free biscuit dough, available in many health food sections or specialty stores. Ensure it’s similar in texture to the original to maintain that fluffy, tender consistency we love in this casserole. For the apple pie filling, check the labels to make sure there are no hidden gluten-containing ingredients or make your own using fresh apples, sugar, cinnamon, and a gluten-free thickener like cornstarch. The butterscotch chips and other ingredients are naturally gluten-free, but it’s always good practice to double-check for cross-contamination warnings on packaging.
