Ingredients

For the Cinnamon Rolls:

  • 2 cans 17.5 oz each Pillsbury Grands! cinnamon rolls (with icing packet)
  • ½ cup heavy cream
  • ¼ cup unsalted butter melted and cooled
  • ½ cup light brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon

For the Cream Cheese Frosting:

  • 4 ounces cream cheese softened
  • 2 tablespoons salted butter softened
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract or pure maple syrup
  • Icing packet from the cinnamon roll cans
  • 1 cup powdered sugar sifted

Instructions

Prepare the Baking Dish:

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Lightly grease a 9×13-inch baking dish with nonstick spray or butter.

Arrange the Rolls:

  1. Open the cans of cinnamon rolls and place them evenly in the baking dish, leaving a small amount of space between each roll to allow for expansion during baking.

Add the Heavy Cream:

  1. Carefully pour the heavy cream into the pan, distributing it around and between the rolls to soak the base of each one. Avoid pouring directly on top of the rolls.

Prepare the Brown Sugar Mixture:

  1. In a small mixing bowl, whisk together the melted butter, brown sugar, and cinnamon until well combined. Spoon this mixture evenly over the tops of the cinnamon rolls.

Bake the Rolls:

  1. Cover the baking dish tightly with foil and bake for 30 to 40 minutes. To achieve a lightly browned top, remove the foil during the final 5 to 10 minutes of baking. Rolls are done when puffed, golden, and cooked through.

Cool Slightly Before Frosting:

  1. Remove the dish from the oven and allow the cinnamon rolls to cool for approximately 5 to 10 minutes before frosting.

Prepare the Cream Cheese Frosting:

  1. In a medium bowl, beat the softened cream cheese and butter together until light and fluffy. Add the vanilla extract (or maple syrup) and the icing packet from the cinnamon roll cans. Reduce the mixer speed to low and gradually add the sifted powdered sugar. Mix until smooth and creamy.

Frost and Serve:

  1. Spread or spoon the cream cheese frosting generously over the warm cinnamon rolls. Serve immediately and enjoy.
