Prep Time 15 minutes
Cook Time 15 minutes
Flaky crescent rolls are filled with savory pepperoni and gooey mozzarella, brushed with butter and Italian seasoning, then baked until golden. These rolls deliver a pizza-inspired snack or appetizer that's quick, simple, and irresistibly flavorful.
8 Servings

Ingredients

  • 1 8-ounce can refrigerated crescent roll dough
  • 24 to 32 slices pepperoni
  • 4 mozzarella string cheese sticks halved crosswise
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil or unsalted butter melted
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • Pizza sauce for serving (optional)

Instructions

Preheat the Oven

  1. Begin by preheating the oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a standard baking sheet with parchment paper for ease of cleanup and to prevent sticking.

Prepare the Dough

  1. Carefully unroll the crescent roll dough and separate it along the perforated lines into eight individual triangles.

Assemble the Rolls

  1. Place three to four slices of pepperoni on the wider end of each crescent triangle. Position half of a mozzarella string cheese stick on top of the pepperoni.

Roll the Dough

  1. Starting at the wide end, gently roll each triangle toward the narrow point, enclosing the filling completely and forming a crescent shape. Position each roll seam-side down on the prepared baking sheet.

Brush and Season

  1. Using a pastry brush, lightly coat the tops of each roll with the olive oil or melted butter. Sprinkle the Italian seasoning evenly over all the rolls.

Bake

  1. Transfer the baking sheet to the oven and bake for 12 to 15 minutes, or until the crescent rolls are golden brown and the cheese is beginning to melt at the edges.

Serve

  1. Remove the rolls from the oven and allow them to cool for several minutes. Serve warm with a side of pizza sauce for dipping, if desired.

Notes

To make this recipe gluten-free, substitute the regular crescent roll dough with a certified gluten-free crescent dough available at specialty grocery stores. Also, verify that the pepperoni and pizza sauce used are labeled gluten-free, as some processed meats and sauces may contain hidden gluten.
