2 1/2c.chopped onions I used 1 1/2 large white onionschopped

Instructions
In a large bowl, add the flour, sugar, baking powder, salt, black pepper, and cornmeal. Mix well until all the ingredients are combined. Add the chopped onions, then pour in the milk. Using a spoon, mix well.
In a skillet, heat the oil. Once the oil is hot, drop the batter by spoonfuls and cook until the bottom side is golden. Flip the patties and cook the other side further. For this, I use a 1/4 c. measuring cup. If needed, add more oil while frying.
Notes
If you prefer hot and spicy onion patties, you can add garlic powder or some hot sauce to the batter.
