Ingredients

1.5 pounds (680 grams) asparagus, woody ends removed

1 small onion, sliced thin

1/2 c (125 ml) of broth (vegetable, chicken, beef…)

8 oz (225 grams) cream cheese, at room temperature

1/2 c freshly grated parmesan cheese

1 c shredded cheese of your choice (we used a mix of mozzarella and asiago)

3 large cloves of garlic, minced (or 12 tbsp garlic powder)

1/2 tsp of salt and freshly cracked pepper

1 tsp Italian seasoning

Red chili pepper flakes, optional

Fresh chopped parsley, for garnish


Instructions

Preheat Oven: Turn your oven on to 425°F (220°C) to get it nice and hot.

Prepare Baking Dish: Lightly oil or spray a baking dish to make sure nothing sticks.

Arrange Asparagus & Toppings: Place the asparagus in the dish. Scatter sliced onion, minced garlic (or garlic powder), Italian seasoning, a pinch of chili flakes (if you like it spicy), and some salt and pepper over the asparagus.

Mix Cream Cheese & Broth: In a bowl, mix the softened cream cheese with your choice of broth until smooth. Spread this mixture over the asparagus.

Add Cheeses: Sprinkle the grated Parmesan and shredded cheese over the top. This will give you that beautiful, cheesy crust.

Bake: Pop it in the oven and bake for about 10-15 minutes. You want to see it bubbly and starting to brown.

Broil for Crispiness: For the last 2 minutes, switch to the broiler to get the cheese on top nice and crispy.

Garnish & Serve: Take it out, sprinkle some fresh parsley on top for a pop of color, and serve warm.
