Ingredients

Scale

2 1/2 c all-purpose flour

2 c buttermilk

1/2 c (1 stick) butter, melted

4 tsp baking powder

1 1/2 tbsp granulated sugar

2 tsp salt

Instructions

Preheat your oven to 450°F (232°C).

In a mixing bowl combine 2 1/2 cups of flour, 4 teaspoons of baking powder, 1 1/2 tablespoons of sugar and 2 teaspoons of salt. Use a whisk to blend the ingredients well.

Add in 2 cups of buttermilk and gently mix until the dough comes together.

Take an 8×8 inch baking dish and pour in butter, about half a cup.

Place the dough on top of the butter in the dish. Evenly spread it out.

Before baking slice the dough into nine squares.

Bake for 20 to 25 minutes until the dough turns a golden brown color.

Once done serve this treat and savor its delightful flavors!

Notes

If you’re craving the deliciousness of Butter Swim Biscuits but need a gluten-free option don’t worry! The secret, to making them as tasty lies, in selecting the right gluten-free all-purpose flour blend. Look for one that has xanthan gum, which acts like gluten and helps give your biscuits their structure and softness. Just keep in mind that gluten-free flours can absorb liquids differently so you might need a buttermilk to get your dough just right.
