4 Servings

Ingredients

  • 4 to 6 standard-size croissants
  • 1 package 16.5 oz ready-made chocolate chip cookie dough, divided

Instructions

Preheat the Oven

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper to prevent sticking and ensure even baking.

Prepare the Croissants

  1. Using a sharp, serrated knife, carefully slice each croissant horizontally, as if making a sandwich. Place the bottom halves cut side up on the prepared baking sheet.

Fill with Cookie Dough

  1. Divide half of the chocolate chip cookie dough evenly among the croissant bottoms. Spread the dough gently across the surface using clean fingers or a spoon to avoid tearing the pastry.

Assemble the Croissants

  1. Place the top halves of the croissants back on and press them very gently to secure. Be careful not to apply too much pressure to avoid displacing the filling.

Top with Additional Cookie Dough

  1. Use the remaining cookie dough to top each croissant. This can be done by adding small dollops or by spreading a thin layer across the tops, depending on your preferred presentation.

Bake

  1. Transfer the baking sheet to the oven and bake for 10 to 12 minutes, or until the croissants are golden brown and the cookie dough appears set with slightly melted edges.

Cool and Serve

  1. Remove the baking sheet from the oven and allow the croissants to cool for a few minutes before serving. These are best enjoyed warm for optimal texture and flavor.

Notes

To make this recipe gluten-free, substitute traditional croissants with certified gluten-free croissants, which are available at specialty bakeries and select grocery stores. Additionally, ensure the chocolate chip cookie dough used is labeled gluten-free, as not all brands are safe for those with gluten sensitivities. Always verify ingredient labels carefully to prevent cross-contamination.
