8 Servings

Ingredients

  • 6 cups whole milk
  • 2 cups heavy cream
  • 8 ounces semi-sweet chocolate roughly chopped
  • 1/3 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • Whipped cream for garnish
  • Chocolate sauce for garnish
  • Marshmallows large and small, for garnish
  • Chocolate sprinkles for garnish

Instructions

Prepare cocoa mixture:

  1. In a small bowl, whisk together the granulated sugar and unsweetened cocoa powder until evenly combined.

Assemble in slow cooker:

  1. Add the whole milk, heavy cream, and vanilla extract to the slow cooker. Stir in the cocoa-sugar mixture until smooth.

Incorporate chocolate:

  1. Add the roughly chopped semi-sweet chocolate. Cover the slow cooker with the lid.

Cook slowly:

  1. Set the slow cooker to high for 4 hours or low for 6 hours. Stir every hour to ensure the chocolate melts evenly and does not burn.

Serve:

  1. Ladle the hot chocolate into mugs. Garnish with whipped cream, chocolate sauce, marshmallows, or sprinkles before serving.
