A fast and flavorful Quick Korean Beef Bowl made with ground beef, garlic, ginger, soy sauce, brown sugar, and sesame oil, served over warm rice for an easy weeknight meal.
4 Servings

Ingredients

  • 1 pound lean ground beef
  • 5 cloves garlic crushed
  • 1 tablespoon freshly grated ginger
  • 2 teaspoons toasted sesame oil
  • 1/2 cup reduced-sodium soy sauce
  • 1/3 cup light brown sugar
  • 1/4 teaspoon crushed red pepper
  • 6 green onions chopped, divided
  • 4 cups hot cooked brown rice
  • 1 tablespoon toasted sesame seeds

Instructions

Prepare the Ingredients

  1. Ensure all components are measured and prepared in advance. Chop the green onions, crush the garlic cloves, and grate the fresh ginger.

Cook the Ground Beef

  1. Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the ground beef and cook for 5 to 7 minutes, breaking it into small pieces until evenly browned. Drain any excess grease from the skillet.

Add Aromatics

  1. Stir in the crushed garlic, grated ginger, and toasted sesame oil. Cook for approximately 2 minutes, or until the mixture becomes fragrant.

Prepare the Sauce

  1. Add the reduced-sodium soy sauce, light brown sugar, and crushed red pepper to the skillet. Stir to combine thoroughly. Allow the mixture to simmer for about 7 minutes, enabling the beef to absorb the sauce.

Incorporate Green Onions

  1. Mix in half of the chopped green onions, reserving the remainder for garnish.

Serve the Dish

  1. Spoon the seasoned beef mixture over hot cooked brown rice. Garnish with toasted sesame seeds and the remaining chopped green onions. Serve immediately.
