Total Time 5 minutes
Transform your meatloaf with this sweet and tangy glaze made from ketchup, brown sugar, Worcestershire sauce, and spices. Easy to make and packed with flavor, it’s the perfect addition to elevate a classic comfort food recipe.
1 Servings

Ingredients

  • ¾ cup ketchup
  • teaspoons white vinegar
  • 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
  • teaspoons brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • ½ teaspoon onion powder
  • ¼ teaspoon ground black pepper

Instructions

Prepare the Glaze:

  1. In a small mixing bowl, combine the ketchup, white vinegar, Worcestershire sauce, brown sugar, garlic powder, onion powder, and ground black pepper. Stir the ingredients thoroughly until the mixture is smooth and evenly blended.

Apply to Meatloaf:

  1. When your meatloaf has approximately 15–20 minutes of cooking time remaining, remove it from the oven. Using a spatula or spoon, spread the prepared glaze evenly over the top of the meatloaf. Ensure full coverage to achieve a consistent caramelized layer.

Bake and Caramelize:

  1. Return the glazed meatloaf to the oven and bake for an additional 20 minutes, or until the glaze has caramelized and the meatloaf is fully cooked. Monitor closely during the final minutes to prevent burning.

Serve:

  1. Allow the meatloaf to rest for a few minutes before slicing. The glaze will set slightly, creating a perfect sweet and tangy topping that enhances each bite.

Notes

To make this glaze gluten-free, substitute the Worcestershire sauce with a certified gluten-free alternative. Additionally, ensure the ketchup and other seasonings used are labeled gluten-free, as cross-contamination can sometimes occur. This simple adjustment keeps the glaze delicious and safe for those with gluten sensitivities.
