Jalapeño Popper Wonton Cups are the perfect little bites for any occasion when you want something that’s got a little heat, a lot of creamy goodness, and a satisfying crunch. Imagine everything you love about jalapeño poppers—melty cheese, crispy bacon, a touch of spice—snuggled into a crispy wonton shell. They’re super easy to whip up, and they come out of the oven looking all golden and delicious. Trust me, you’ll be popping these into your mouth nonstop, and so will everyone else.
12 Servings

Ingredients

  • 12 wonton wrappers
  • 8 oz cream cheese softened
  • 4 oz bacon cooked and finely chopped (reserve about 2 tablespoon)
  • 2 oz cheddar grated (about 1/2 c; reserve about 2 tablespoon)
  • 3 jalapeño peppers deseeded and finely chopped (reserve about 2 tablespoon)
  • 2 stalks green onion thinly sliced
  • 2 tbsp milk or cream
  • Oil for greasing the pan

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F and give a cupcake pan a quick grease with oil or cooking spray to prevent sticking.
  2. Gently press a wonton wrapper into each of the cupcake cups. If you want that extra crispy crunch, give the inside of each wonton a light spray with cooking spray.
  3. Once the oven's hot, bake the wonton cups for about 6 to 8 minutes until you see those edges turning a nice golden brown. Take them out and lower the oven temperature to 350°F.
  4. In a bowl, mix together the cream cheese, cheddar, bacon, jalapeños, green onion, and milk until it’s all creamy and smooth.
  5. Use a spoon or a small cookie scoop to fill each wonton cup with the cheese mixture. Sprinkle the top with a bit of the reserved bacon, cheddar, and jalapeños for an extra kick.
  6. Pop the pan back into the oven and bake for another 8 to 10 minutes, until the filling is hot and the cheddar on top is nicely melted. Let them cool for a few minutes before taking them out of the pan.
  7. Serve them warm, and dig in!

Notes

To make these Jalapeño Popper Wonton Cups gluten-free, you’ll need to swap out the Wonton wrappers for a gluten-free alternative. Look for rice paper wrappers or gluten-free dumpling wrappers at the store, or you can even make your own if you’re feeling ambitious. Also, double-check that the bacon, cheese, and other ingredients are certified gluten-free. It’s all about those little swaps so everyone can enjoy!
