Ingredients

  • 2 pounds fresh asparagus
  • 1 lemon halved
  • 2 teaspoons olive oil
  • ½ teaspoon garlic salt
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Cooking spray

Instructions

Prepare the grill or oven

  1. Preheat your grill to high heat or set your oven to 425°F (220°C).

Prepare the foil

  1. Tear four large squares of aluminum foil and lightly spray each with cooking spray to prevent sticking.

Divide the asparagus

  1. Separate the asparagus into four equal portions and place each portion in the center of a foil square.

Season the asparagus

  1. Drizzle each portion with olive oil and squeeze a few drops of fresh lemon juice over the top. Sprinkle with garlic salt, a pinch of salt, and freshly ground black pepper. Gently toss the asparagus on the foil to ensure even coating.

Add lemon slices

  1. Cut four thin slices from the lemon halves and place one slice on top of each asparagus pile.

Seal the foil packets

  1. Fold the foil over the asparagus and crimp the edges tightly to create a sealed packet. Leave a small amount of space inside for steam to circulate.

Cook the asparagus

  1. Place the foil packets on the grill or in the oven. Cook for 10–15 minutes, depending on the thickness of the asparagus, or until the spears are tender yet slightly firm.

Serve immediately

  1. Carefully open the foil packets to release the steam and serve the asparagus directly from the foil or transfer to a serving dish.
