  • 1 onion finely grated
  • 1 cup butter softened
  • 3 tablespoons poppy seeds
  • 2 tablespoons prepared Dijon-style mustard
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 2 12 oz packages white party rolls
  • ½ pound cooked ham chopped
  • 5 oz Swiss cheese shredded

Prepare the Oven:

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) to ensure even baking.

Prepare the Butter Mixture:

  1. In a medium bowl, combine the grated onion, softened butter, poppy seeds, Dijon mustard, and Worcestershire sauce. Stir thoroughly until the mixture is smooth and cohesive.

Assemble the Sandwiches:

  1. Using a serrated knife, slice each package of party rolls horizontally to separate the tops from the bottoms. Place the bottom halves of the rolls into a baking dish. Evenly spread the prepared butter mixture over the bottom portions of the rolls.

Add the Filling:

  1. Distribute the chopped ham evenly across the buttered rolls. Sprinkle the shredded Swiss cheese over the ham to ensure every bite is flavorful.

Complete the Sandwiches:

  1. Replace the tops of the rolls and arrange the sandwiches snugly in a single layer in the baking dish.

Bake the Sandwiches:

  1. Place the baking dish in the preheated oven. Bake for 10 to 12 minutes, or until the rolls are lightly browned and the cheese has melted thoroughly.

Serve:

To make this recipe gluten-free, simply substitute the white party rolls with your favorite gluten-free rolls or buns.
