This Garlic Butter Cheesy Texas Toast is pure comfort food, plain and simple. Think thick slices of bread, slathered in buttery, garlicky goodness, and topped with a mix of melty mozzarella and creamy provolone. It’s crispy on the edges, soft in the middle, and just bursting with flavor. Whether you’re pairing it with pasta or just snacking on it straight out of the oven, it’s one of those treats that always hits the spot. Plus, it’s ridiculously easy to make—you’ll have it ready in no time, and trust me, everyone will be asking for seconds.
6 Servings

Ingredients

  • 4 tbsp melted butter
  • 2 tbsp grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp dried oregano
  • 1 c shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 6 slices provolone cheese
  • 6 slices Texas toast or any thick-cut bread
  • 1/2 tsp dried parsley optional, for a little garnish

Instructions

Toast the Bread (Optional):

  1. If you’re into extra crunch, give the bread slices a quick toast before adding the toppings. But if you like it soft and buttery, skip this step and go straight to the good stuff.

Make the Garlic Butter:

  1. In a small bowl, mix together the melted butter, Parmesan, garlic powder, and oregano. Stir it up until everything’s well combined and ready to spread.

Prep the Bread:

  1. Lay the slices of bread in a single layer on an air fryer basket or a baking sheet. Spread that delicious garlic butter mixture evenly over each slice, making sure you get every corner.

Add the Cheese:

  1. Sprinkle the shredded mozzarella over the buttered bread, then place a slice of provolone on top. You want those layers of cheese to melt together and get nice and bubbly.

Cook It Up:

  1. Air Fryer: Heat at 350°F for about 5 minutes until the cheese is melted and golden.
  2. Oven: Bake at 375°F for 6-7 minutes, or until the cheese is bubbly and starting to brown at the edges.

Garnish & Serve:

  1. If you’re feeling fancy, sprinkle a little dried parsley on top as soon as they come out of the oven. Serve them up hot, and dig in!

Notes

Want to go gluten-free? No problem! Just swap out the regular Texas toast for thick-cut gluten-free bread. Honestly, there are some great gluten-free options out there that will still give you that perfect crunch. And a little tip—double-check your Parmesan and other ingredients to make sure they’re gluten-free too. It’s a small tweak, but it means you can enjoy all that cheesy, garlicky goodness without a second thought. So go ahead, make the switch, and dig in!
