Ingredients

  • 8 ounces egg noodles
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 16 ounces French onion dip
  • 10.5 ounces condensed cream of mushroom soup
  • 1 cup grated cheddar cheese
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 1.5 cups crispy fried onions

Instructions

Preheat the Oven:

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (177°C). Prepare a 10-inch square baking dish by lightly coating it with non-stick cooking spray.

Cook the Egg Noodles:

  1. In a large pot of boiling water, cook the egg noodles according to the instructions on the package until al dente. Drain thoroughly and place them in a large mixing bowl.

Brown the Ground Beef:

  1. In a large skillet over medium-high heat, cook the ground beef until it is fully browned and no longer pink, breaking it apart with a spatula as it cooks. Drain any excess fat from the skillet.

Combine the Ingredients:

  1. Add the cooked ground beef to the bowl with the drained egg noodles. Then add the French onion dip, condensed cream of mushroom soup, sour cream, and grated cheddar cheese. Stir gently until all ingredients are thoroughly combined.

Transfer to Baking Dish:

  1. Spoon the mixture evenly into the prepared baking dish, smoothing out the surface with a spatula.

Bake the Casserole:

  1. Place the dish in the preheated oven and bake for 25 minutes, or until the mixture is heated through and beginning to bubble around the edges.

Add the Crispy Fried Onions:

  1. Remove the casserole from the oven and evenly sprinkle the crispy fried onions over the top.

Final Bake:

  1. Return the dish to the oven and bake for an additional 5 to 10 minutes, or until the fried onions are golden brown and crisp.

Cool and Serve:

  1. Allow the casserole to cool for approximately 5 minutes before serving. This will enable the dish to set slightly and enhance its flavors.
