Easy Toast Pies

Crisp, golden toast pies filled with warm jam, Nutella, or cookie butter, wrapped in soft sandwich bread and lightly dusted with powdered sugar. A quick, delightful treat for all ages.
4 Servings

Ingredients

  • 4 slices white sandwich bread crusts removed
  • 1/4 cup jam, nut butter, cookie butter, or Nutella
  • 1 egg beaten with 1 tablespoon water
  • Powdered sugar for dusting (optional)

Instructions

Preheat the Oven

  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper to prevent sticking and ensure even browning.

Prepare the Bread

  1. Place the crustless bread slices on a clean surface. Using your fingers or the back of a spoon, gently press a shallow indent approximately 2 inches wide in the center of each slice, leaving a 1/2-inch border around the edges for sealing.

Add the Filling

  1. Spoon about 1 tablespoon of your chosen filling into the center of each bread slice. Avoid overfilling, as excess filling may leak during baking.

Seal the Toast Pies

  1. Brush the exposed borders of the bread with the prepared egg wash. Fold each slice in half over the filling, pressing the edges gently with your fingers to seal. Then, use a fork to crimp all around the edges, ensuring the filling is completely enclosed.

Apply the Egg Wash

  1. Lightly brush the tops and edges of each folded toast pie with the remaining egg wash. This step enhances color and texture, giving a golden, glossy finish after baking.

Bake

  1. Transfer the sealed toast pies onto the prepared baking sheet. Bake in the preheated oven for 10–12 minutes, or until they turn evenly golden brown and crisp.

Cool and Serve

  1. Remove from the oven and transfer to a wire rack to cool slightly. Dust with powdered sugar before serving, if desired. These toast pies are best enjoyed warm for optimal texture and flavor.
