Creamy Havarti Dill Sandwich

A warm, comforting Creamy Havarti Dill Sandwich layered with turkey, cucumber, tomatoes, and melty Havarti cheese, finished with fresh dill for a bright, aromatic touch.
2 Servings

Ingredients

  • 2 large slices or 4 small slices of wheat sandwich bread
  • 2 tablespoons mayonnaise optional
  • 8 ounces sliced deli turkey
  • 1/2 cucumber thinly sliced
  • 2 small tomatoes thinly sliced
  • 4 ounces Havarti cheese sliced
  • 1 teaspoon finely chopped fresh dill

Instructions

Toast the Bread

  1. Lightly toast the bread in a toaster until it becomes firm but not overly browned. This helps maintain structure once the remaining ingredients are added.

Prepare the Bread with Mayonnaise

  1. If using mayonnaise, evenly spread it over the surface of the toasted bread slices. Place the prepared bread onto a baking sheet.

Assemble the Sandwich

  1. Distribute the sliced turkey evenly over the bread. Layer the cucumber slices on top of the turkey, followed by the sliced tomatoes. Finally, place the Havarti cheese on top of each portion, ensuring even coverage.

Broil the Sandwiches

  1. Adjust the oven rack to the highest or second-highest position and set the broiler to high. Place the baking sheet underneath the broiler. Heat for approximately 1 to 2 minutes, or until the cheese has fully melted. It is recommended to monitor the sandwiches closely during this step, as the cheese can burn quickly.

Finish and Serve

  1. Remove the sandwiches from the oven. Sprinkle the fresh dill evenly over the melted cheese. Serve immediately while the sandwich remains warm.

Notes

To prepare a gluten-free version of the Creamy Havarti Dill Sandwich, substitute the wheat bread with certified gluten-free sandwich bread. Ensure that all additional ingredients—particularly deli turkey—are labeled gluten-free, as some processed meats may contain gluten-based fillers.
