8 Servings

Ingredients

  • 2 c all-purpose flour
  • 1 1/3 c sharp cheddar cheese shredded
  • 1 tbsp baking powder
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 2 tbsp fresh parsley finely chopped
  • 3/4 c milk
  • 1 egg
  • 1/3 c butter softened

Topping (optional):

  • 2 tbsp butter melted
  • 1 tbsp parsley
  • 1 tsp garlic powder

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F and line a baking sheet with parchment paper to make cleanup easy.
  2. In a medium-sized bowl, combine the flour, shredded cheddar cheese, baking powder, garlic powder, salt, and chopped parsley. Give everything a good stir so it’s evenly mixed.
  3. In another bowl, whisk together the milk, egg, and softened butter until smooth. Pour this mixture into the bowl with the dry ingredients.
  4. Gently mix everything together until you have a sticky dough—be careful not to overmix, as that can make the biscuits tough. If the dough feels too dry, add a little splash of milk.
  5. Scoop the dough into 8-10 mounds and drop them onto the prepared baking sheet, making sure to leave about 2 inches of space between each one.
  6. Bake in the oven for 12-14 minutes or until the biscuits start to turn golden brown. While they bake, mix the melted butter, parsley, and garlic powder for the topping.
  7. When the biscuits come out of the oven, brush them with the buttery topping and pop them back in for another 5 minutes to let the flavors soak in.
  8. Let them cool for a moment and enjoy!

Notes

Making these biscuits gluten-free is totally doable! Just swap the all-purpose flour for a gluten-free baking mix that works as a 1:1 substitute. Double-check that your baking powder and other ingredients are gluten-free too. The texture might be a touch different, but you’ll still get that cheesy, garlicky goodness. Trust me, they’ll be a hit with everyone, even those who don’t need to eat gluten-free!
