Ingredients

  • 1 package frozen Texas Style Garlic Cheese Toast
  • 1 green bell pepper thinly sliced
  • 1 medium onion thinly sliced
  • 12 ounces shaved cheesesteak beef
  • 3 slices mozzarella cheese
  • 3 slices provolone cheese
  • Olive oil or unsalted butter for cooking
  • Salt to taste
  • Ground black pepper to taste

Instructions

Prepare the garlic cheese toast

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Bake the garlic cheese toast according to the package directions until golden and crisp. Set aside to cool slightly.

Cook the vegetables

  1. In a large skillet, heat a small amount of olive oil over medium heat. Add the sliced onion and green pepper, cooking until softened and lightly caramelized. Remove from the skillet and set aside.

Cook the steak

  1. In the same skillet, add the shaved cheesesteak beef. Season lightly with salt and pepper. Cook until browned and tender, adding a small amount of butter if needed. Remove from the skillet and set aside.

Assemble the toast

  1. Line a baking tray with parchment paper. Place slices of baked garlic cheese toast on the tray. Top each slice with a piece of provolone cheese, a portion of cooked steak and vegetables, and then a slice of mozzarella cheese. Cover with an additional slice of garlic cheese toast to form a sandwich.

Brown the sandwiches

  1. Melt a small amount of butter in the skillet. Place each sandwich into the skillet and cook over medium heat until golden brown on both sides and the cheese is fully melted.

Serve

  1. Remove from the skillet and serve warm, allowing the melted cheeses and garlic butter to complement the savory steak and vegetables.
