Ingredients

  • 1 pound ground beef 80/20 blend
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • ¼ teaspoon ground black pepper
  • cup ketchup
  • 2 tablespoons yellow mustard
  • 1 package 14 oz ready-made pizza dough
  • 2 cups shredded sharp cheddar cheese divided
  • ½ cup chopped yellow onion
  • 6 –7 dill pickle slices
  • ¼ cup shredded iceberg lettuce
  • ¼ cup diced fresh tomatoes

Instructions

Preheat the Oven

  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C), allowing it to reach full temperature while you prepare the remaining components.

Prepare the Pizza Dough

  1. Press the pizza dough into a 10- to 12-inch cast iron skillet, ensuring it covers the bottom evenly and reaches slightly up the sides. Set aside.

Cook the Ground Beef

  1. In a separate skillet set over medium heat, add the ground beef, salt, and black pepper. Cook for approximately 5 to 7 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the beef is fully browned. Drain and discard any excess fat. Remove from heat.

Combine the Sauce

  1. In a small bowl, mix together the ketchup and yellow mustard until smooth. Spread this sauce evenly across the surface of the prepared dough in the skillet.

Assemble the Pizza

  1. Sprinkle one cup of the shredded cheddar cheese over the sauce. Evenly distribute the cooked ground beef and chopped onion on top of the cheese. Finish by adding the remaining cup of cheddar cheese as the final layer.

Bake

  1. Transfer the skillet to the preheated oven and bake for approximately 20 minutes, or until the crust is golden brown and the cheese is melted and bubbly.

Top and Serve

  1. Remove the skillet from the oven and allow the pizza to cool for 5 minutes. Garnish with dill pickle slices, shredded lettuce, and diced tomatoes before serving.

Notes

To prepare a gluten-free version of this dish, substitute the ready-made pizza dough with a certified gluten-free pizza dough or crust alternative. Confirm that the ketchup, mustard, and all other processed ingredients—particularly pickles and shredded cheese—are labeled gluten-free, as these may occasionally contain gluten-based stabilizers or be processed in facilities that risk cross-contamination.
