This 3 Ingredient Steak Marinade creates a bold, flavorful steak with minimal effort. A simple combination of balsamic vinegar, Worcestershire sauce, and liquid smoke enhances tenderness and adds depth, making it perfect for grilling, pan-searing, or broiling.
In a small bowl, whisk together the balsamic vinegar, Worcestershire sauce, and liquid smoke until well combined.
Marinate the Steak
Place the steaks in a resealable plastic bag or a shallow dish. Pour the marinade over the steaks, ensuring they are fully coated.
Cover and refrigerate:
For a quick marinade: At least 30 minutes.
For deeper flavor: Up to 8 hours (flipping halfway through for even marination).
Cook the Steak
Remove the steaks from the marinade and allow excess liquid to drip off.
Cook the steak using your preferred method:
Grill: Over medium-high heat for 3-5 minutes per side, depending on doneness preference.
Pan-sear: In a preheated skillet with oil over medium-high heat for 3-4 minutes per side.
Broil: In the oven at 450°F (232°C) for 4-6 minutes per side.
For optimal results, cook to the following internal temperatures:
Medium-rare: 130-135°F (54-57°C)
Medium: 135-145°F (57-63°C)
Medium-well: 145-155°F (63-68°C)
Allow the steaks to rest for 5 minutes before serving to retain their juices.
Notes
This marinade is naturally gluten-free if gluten-free Worcestershire sauce is used. Many traditional brands contain wheat, so be sure to check the label. If needed, substitute with tamari or coconut aminos for a similar umami flavor.
