2 pounds lean ground beef

1 green bell pepper, diced

1 yellow onion, diced

3 cloves garlic, minced

2 1/2 tbsp flour

2 tbsp brown sugar

1 tsp salt

1 tsp pepper

1/2 tsp cumin

1/2 tsp cayenne pepper

2 c beef or vegetable broth

3/4 c ketchup

1 1/2 tbsp Dijon mustard

1 tsp Worcestershire sauce

1 1/4 c cheddar cheese, shredded


Instructions

Cook the Beef: Brown ground beef and onion in a large pot. Add garlic, flour, brown sugar, salt, pepper, cumin, and cayenne. Stir and cook until the beef is fully browned.

Simmer: Add broth, ketchup, mustard, and Worcestershire sauce. Simmer, stirring occasionally, until thickened. Mix in 1/2 c cheese.

Broil: Transfer to baking dish, top with remaining cheese, and broil until golden brown.

Serve: Relish hot with toasted bread or crackers.
