Ingredients

Scale

1 tbsp butter, melted

12-pack Hawaiian sweet rolls (King’s or any similar brand)

β…“ c butter, melted

2 tbsp brown sugar

Β½ tbsp ground cinnamon

β…› tsp freshly grated nutmeg (omit or reduce if you’re not a fan)

8 oz cream cheese

1 large egg, beaten

3 tbsp granulated sugar

Instructions

Preheat the Oven: Set your oven to 375Β°F and grease a 9×13-inch baking dish with 1 tablespoon of melted butter. This will prevent the rolls from sticking.

Prepare the Rolls: Place the Hawaiian sweet rolls in the baking dish. Cut an ‘X’ on top of each roll about two-thirds of the way down. Being careful not to cut all the way through.

Make the Glaze: In a small bowl, combine β…“ cup melted butter, 2 tablespoons brown sugar, Β½ tablespoon cinnamon, and β…› teaspoon nutmeg. Stir everything together. Until it’s well mixed.

Glaze the Rolls: Drizzle the butter mixture over the rolls, ensuring each one gets a nice coating.

Mix the Filling: In another bowl, beat the cream cheese until smooth. Then add in the granulated sugar. Stir until it’s creamy. And then mix in the beaten egg.

Fill the Rolls: Fill a piping bag with the cream cheese mixture. Pipe it into the X cuts you made on top of each roll. If you don’t have a piping bag. Use a plastic bag with a corner cut off. Or simply spoon the filling in carefully.

Bake the Danishes: Place the baking dish in the oven. And bake for 12-15 minutes. Until the tops of the rolls are golden brown. And the cream cheese filling is set.

Cool and Serve: Allow the danishes to cool for a few minutes before serving. The filling will be hot right out of the oven. So let them cool down a bit. Enjoy warm, and store any leftovers in the fridge for 3-4 days.
