Ingredients

Scale

6 slices stale bread (or about 45 c broken bread pieces or cubes)

3 tbsp butter (1 tbsp + 2 tbsp)

4 beaten eggs

2 c milk

ΒΎ c white sugar

1 tsp vanilla extract

1 tsp cinnamon

Raisins (optional)

Optional Brown Sugar Sauce:

3 tbsp butter (salted or unsalted)

1 tbsp brown sugar

1 tsp vanilla extract


Instructions

Preheat your oven to 350Β°F. And butter an 8-inch baking dish.

Break the bread into pieces. And place them in the dish.

Drizzle melted butter over the bread.

In a bowl, mix eggs, milk, sugar, vanilla, and cinnamon until well combined.

Pour the mixture over the bread. Ensuring all pieces are coated.

Bake for 45 minutes until the top is golden. And springs back when touched.

(Optional) Prepare the brown sugar sauce: Melt butter, and stir in brown sugar and vanilla. And drizzle over the baked pudding.

Notes

To make this bread pudding gluten-free. Simply substitute the stale bread. With your favorite gluten-free bread. Many gluten-free breads can be a bit denser. So you might want to lightly toast the bread before using it. To ensure it holds up well in the custard. The rest of the ingredients are naturally gluten-free.
