Ingredients

Scale

1 c all-purpose flour

1/2 c unsweetened cocoa powder

2 tsp baking powder

1/2 tsp sea salt

1 1/2 c mashed bananas (about 3 medium bananas)

1 large egg, room temperature

1/4 c unsalted butter, melted

1/4 c canola oil

1 c light brown sugar, packed

1 tsp vanilla extract

1 c large semisweet chocolate chips

1/2 c walnuts, chopped (optional)


Instructions

Preheat Oven & Prep Pan: Heat your oven to 350Β°F. Spray a 9-by-5-inch loaf pan with nonstick spray.

Mix Dry Ingredients: In a medium bowl. Whisk together 1 c flour, 1/2 c cocoa powder, 2 tsp baking powder, and 1/2 tsp sea salt.

Mash Bananas & Mix Wet Ingredients: In a large bowl. Mash 1 1/2 c bananas. Add 1/4 c melted butter, 1/4 c oil, 1 tsp vanilla, and 1 egg. Mix well.

Combine Sugar: Stir in 1 c brown sugar. Until smooth.

Mix Dry with Wet: Add your dry ingredients to the wet. Folding gently with a spatula. Avoid overmixing.

Add Chocolate Chips & Walnuts: Fold in 3/4 c chocolate chips and 1/2 c walnuts (if using).

Bake: Pour batter into the pan. Sprinkle the top with the remaining 1/4 c chocolate chips. Bake for 50-60 minutes. Or until a toothpick comes out clean.

Cool & Serve: Let the bread cool in the pan on a wire rack for 15 minutes. Then remove it from pan. And let it cool until warm. Slice and enjoy!
