Description

This Amish Cinnamon Bread. Weaves the simple pleasures of homemade bread. With the sweet, comforting notes of cinnamon. Each slice is a tender homage to traditional Amish baking. Featuring a swirl of cinnamon sugar. That caramelizes beautifully as it bakes. The result is a delightfully soft loaf. With pockets of gooey sweetness. Making it impossible to stop. At just one slice. Whether enjoyed with a smear of butter or as is. This bread promises. A comforting treat.

Ingredients

Scale

1/2 c of softened butter

1 c of granulated sugar

1 large egg

1 tsp of vanilla extract

1 c of buttermilk

2 c of all-purpose flour

1 tsp of baking soda

1/2 tsp of salt

For the Cinnamon Sugar Filling:

1/2 c of granulated sugar

2 tsp of ground cinnamon

Instructions

Heat your oven to 350Β°F. And prepare a 9×5-inch loaf pan. By greasing it thoroughly.

Start by creaming the butter. And sugar together in a mixer. Until the mixture is light and airy. Incorporate the egg and vanilla, continuing to mix. Until everything is well blended.

In a separate bowl. Whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt. Gradually add half of this dry mixture. To the creamed mixture. Alternating with half the buttermilk. Stirring just until the ingredients are combined. Follow with the remaining flour and buttermilk. Mixing until just smooth.
For the cinnamon-sugar layer. Stir together the cinnamon. And sugar. In a small bowl.

Pour half of the final batter into your prepared pan, leveling it with a spatula. Evenly distribute two-thirds of your cinnamon-sugar mix over this layer. Gently swirl it through using a knife.

Top with the remaining batter. Smoothing it out carefully. Finish by sprinkling the leftover cinnamon-sugar mixture across the top.

Bake the loaf for 45-50 minutes. Or until it turns a rich golden brown. And a toothpick inserted in the center. Comes out clean.

Allow the bread to cool in the pan. For 10 minutes. Before transferring it to a wire rack. To cool completely.

Notes

Transforming this Amish Cinnamon Bread. Into a gluten-free delight is straightforward. Simply substitute the all-purpose flour. With a gluten-free all-purpose blend. That includes xanthan gum. To mimic the texture of traditional flour. For an added touch of richness. And to ensure the bread remains moist. Incorporate a tablespoon of apple cider vinegar into your batter. This tweak helps activate the baking soda. Giving rise to a fluffier loaf. While ensuring no compromise on taste. Or texture.
