What You Need To Make This Slow-Cooker Beef Brisket Recipe?
Beef Brisket: The highlight of this dish is definitely the beef brisket, which is highly valued for its flavor and tender texture when cooked slowly. For the best results opt for a brisket weighing around 1.5 to 2 kg (3 to 4 lb.). This particular cut strikes a balance, between meatiness and marbling ensuring a succulent and melt-in-your-mouth experience after hours of slow cooking.
Olive Oil (A neutral oil like vegetable or canola): A tablespoon of olive oil or alternatively a neutral oil such as vegetable or canola serves two purposes; it helps to tenderize the meat and ensures a distribution of the rub across the surface of the brisket. Additionally, when the brisket is roasted in the oven it assists in achieving a browning effect that enhances its appeal.
Rub Ingredients: Each element in this rub plays a role in developing flavors. The brown sugar brings sweetness. Contributes to caramelization during cooking. Paprika, onion powder, and garlic powder imparts depth and aromatic qualities. Cumin introduces a note while mustard powder adds a hint of tanginess. Salt and black pepper season the meat perfectly, by enhancing its taste profile. It’s this balanced rub that gives the brisket its rich and savory character.
BBQ Sauce Ingredients:
Garlic Cloves: Minced fresh garlic infuses the sauce with a kick that adds an aromatic element.
Apple Cider Vinegar: Apple cider vinegar adds a touch of acidity and a hint of fruitiness, which helps balance the sweetness of the sauce.
Ketchup: Ketchup is the foundation of the BBQ sauce giving it a tomato flavor and a smooth texture.
Brown Sugar: To add sweetness and help with caramelization packed brown sugar is included in the recipe.
Black Pepper: For a kick ground black pepper is used in the sauce.
Onion Powder and Mustard Powder: To enhance the depth and complexity of flavors in the sauce, onion powder and mustard powder are incorporated.
Cayenne Pepper (adjust to taste re: spiciness): Adjust the amount of cayenne pepper based on your desired level of spiciness. It provides a heat to the sauce that can be customized according to your preference.
Worcestershire Sauce: With its blend of flavors, Worcestershire sauce elevates the undertones, in this delicious BBQ sauce.

Steps To Make Slow Cooker Beef Brisket:
Step 1: Start by combining all the ingredients, for the rub. Spread this mixture evenly over your beef brisket. While it can be left to marinate in the refrigerator for up to 24 hours it’s also perfectly fine to proceed without marinating.
Step 2: In your slow cooker mix together the ingredients for the BBQ sauce. Place the brisket in the pot making sure it fits snugly.
Step 3: Let the magic happen! Slow-cook the brisket for 8 to 10 hours until it becomes fork-tender and irresistible.
Step 4: Gently take out the brisket from the slow cooker. Transfer it onto a tray.
Step 5: Transfer the cooking liquid from the slow cooker into a saucepan. Heat it over medium-high heat until it simmers allowing it to reduce into a thick and syrupy consistency. It will thicken more as it cools down.
Step 6: While the sauce is reducing, drizzle some oil over the brisket. Roast it in an oven at 200°C (390°F) for about 15 minutes or until you notice those delightful brown spots forming.
Step 7: Take out the brisket generously brush it with some of that reduced sauce then put it in the oven for another 5 minutes. Repeat this brushing and baking process until your brisket caramelizes and looks as tempting, as its taste.
Step 8: Thinly slice the beef brisket against the grain. Serve it alongside the remaining BBQ sauce. This dish is absolutely loved by everyone whether enjoyed as a meal, with side dishes or piled onto rolls with some coleslaw, for mouthwatering sliders.
Tip:
To add a depth of flavor you might want to think about searing the beef brisket in a skillet before applying the rub and transferring it to the slow cooker. Searing results, in a caramelized crust that elevates the taste of the dish. Simply heat up a skillet with an oil until it reaches a smoking point then sear the brisket on all sides until it turns brown. Although this step requires a few minutes it definitely pays off by providing a more intricate flavor to the final dish.
