Notes

What sort of sausage for a breakfast casserole? I use Jimmy Dean sausage. In this recipe, you are welcome to use any brand or flavor of breakfast sausage. Or swap the pork sausage with turkey for a lower-fat meal.

I used Sunbeam sandwich bread for the bread cubes in this dish. Use any bread you have lying available. A few slices of sourdough bread would complement this dish well.

Any cheeses you choose can be used. Pepper jack, Colby jack, Gouda, and mozzarella are all excellent!

This is an excellent basic recipe. You are welcome to add some vegetables to the dish if desired. Vegetables like red bell peppers, onions, mushrooms, and onions are wonderful.

Can you freeze sausage breakfast casserole? Put together the casserole, bake it, and let it cool fully. Wrap the dish with aluminum foil and plastic wrap and place it in the freezer. To reheat, defrost and reheat covered in the oven or the microwave.

Leftovers should be refrigerated in an airtight container.

How To Make it Gluten free

Look for gluten-free sausage.

Gluten-free bread.

You can use gluten-free Worcestershire sauce or swap it with a mixture of red vinegar or balsamic vinegar and tamarind paste.
